Review: Maybelline Volum' Express the Falsies Waterproof and the Rocket Mascaras

Hi guys!

Here’s my review/comparison for the Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies (waterproof) and The Rocket mascaras.

I got them in Singapore and I was looking for the waterproof version for the Rocket (the words are  in blue) but they don’t have it anywhere. I always prefer to wear waterproof mascaras because they tend to hold curls better and they are definitely more long lasting.

I think I got these mascaras for about $17-18. I’m not sure about the price in drugstores in the US but I know it will be a lot cheaper. I was kinda expecting this to be slightly less expensive in Singapore like around $14-15… But I can tell you that I will repurchase the Falsies if I ran out of ALL my mascaras and if I have a very restricted budjet.

Basically, these two mascaras give almost the same effect when applied. But I find that the Falsies is a lot easier to apply. When I was doing my second coat for the Rocket, the first coat already dried up and it was a little difficult to go back and fill in the gaps. People say that the Rocket’s formula is more dry and I have to agree with them. From the way you are looking at the picture, the left eye is the one with the Falsies and the right eye is the one with the Rocket. I think the lashes on the left eye have a little more curl to it which is probably due to the waterproof formula.

Some mascara brushes will work better on different people. For me, I find that the Falsies brush worked better. There is a slight curve in it while the brush of the Rocket is just really big.

This is the Falsies brush.

 And this is the Rocket's.

Somehow I feel that the Falsies give more volume than the Rocket because it’s easier to apply a second or even a third coat. But from afar, there really isn’t a noticeable difference. (I know I may have gotten some mascara on my lid but it doesn’t really matter since I was at home).

The Rocket.

And the Falsies.

I then stepped into the shower and tested the staying power of the mascaras. The Rocket was almost entirely washed off. A good thing about it is that it did not leave a smudge on my waterline but I’m not very certain because I was in the shower for a pretty long time.

As for the Falsies, I see that it was kinda washed off. The curl is gone and well, I don’t look so good with it. Oh man I still haven’t found a mascara that is entirely waterproof.

In conclusion, I prefer the Falsies waterproof to the Rocket. I want to try out the waterproof version of the Rocket if I can get my hands on it!

I hope you found this helpful and thank you for reading. (:
